“EXERCISE. Each morning, after I brush my teeth, wash my face and shake off the first deep layer of sleep, I lie down on the floor beside my bed and begin my first exercise. It is a simple bust-firming routine which consists of lifting five-pound weights from a spread-eagle arm position to a point directly above my head. I do this 15 times, slowly. I repeat the exercise another 15 times from a position with my arms above my head. Then, with my arms at a 45-degree angle from the floor, I move my weights in circles until I’m tired. I don’t count rhythmically like the exercise people on the radio; I couldn’t stand exercise if I had to feel regimented about it.”
By nature, I suppose I have a languorous disposition. I hate to do things in a hurried, tense atmosphere, and it is virtually impossible for me to spring out of bed in the morning. On Sunday, which is my one day of total leisure, Isometimes take two hours to wake up, luxuriating in every last moment of drowsiness. Depending on my activities, I sleep between five and ten hours every night. I sleep in an extra-wide single bed, and I use only one heavy down comforter over me, summer or winter. I have never been able to wear pajamas or creepy nightgowns; they disturb my sleep.”
DINNER. My dinners at home are startlingly simple. Every night I stop at the market near my hotel and pick up a steak, lamb chops or some liver, which I broil in the electric oven in my room. I usually eat four or five raw carrots with my meat, and that is all. I must be part rabbit; I never get bored with raw carrots.

Adding Dairy To Your Smoothie
this is really old school , that yogurt and milk go in a smoothie , but this is food combining 101 .. dairy does not goeth in the smoothie people .. its acidic and hard to digest , and if you are having dairy in your life (brave claps for being brave) aim for un-pasturised RAW organic dairy , as it contains the digestive enzymes (which are destroyed in pasteurisation) to allow the dairy to assimilate into your body . when you mix dairy with fruit (put the fruit yogurt down) you’re making your body work too hard , fruit digest within minutes.. dairy hours .. you’re going to get gassy .. i put it out there .. youre going to get GASSY
Not Chewing It
this sounds ridiculous .. I thought we eat smoothies and juices so we don’t have to chew.. oops? , actually the whole point of chewing is to begins digestion. Along with breaking down food , it mixes with saliva and the enzymes within to start breaking down the nutrients , so swishing your smoothie and juice around your mouth is going to allow for it to get into your body better and quicker … it will also allow for you to really take your time with it, limiting that high burst of energy . Having The Same Greens Every Time
only like spinach ? so you’re putting spinach in your morning juice/smoothie.. everyday … and you feel shit.. and you maybe have some skin problems ?!?! Going Superfood Mental
this one gets me so crazy , super foods like Cacao , Maca, Acai and Ginseng are all amazing , but they need to be treated with respect .. theyre nutrient powerhouses and should be used moderately .. Cacao for example is an Energy food .. but too much , similarly to coffee ,stimulates the adrenal glands.. doing this often , you’re going to get adrenal fatigued .. and you can say goodbye to getting out of bed
Maca is a hormonal balancer , so especially girls need to limit it .. so many girls have come to me have Maca in everything and wondering why they CRAY.. its your hormones (youre welcome).. so look at the back of the label .. and follow the recommended serving size.. no matter how delicious it is .. calm yo’self down

this is my favourite , when people put like 12 different fruits in a smoothie and then a tiny stem of broccoli .. and they’re all like HASHTAG CLEAN EATING HASHTAG CLEANSE .. blah blah blah .. fruit is sugar .. sugar is bad .. especially in juices .. you’re removing the fiber which makes the sugar slow absorbing .. so you might as well just spoon some HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in some water and drink that with a multivitamin , because thats about as good for you . Not Diluting it
this is a simple one.. water .. WATER is needed in both smoothies and juice in order to dilute it .. not too much though as you will dilute the enzymes , but enough to loosen it up , otherwise like NEAT vodka.. its strong , and its taxing on your body , also its lubricating all the vitamins and minerals and they’ll swish through you like some harry potter magic .

but they’re actually our bodies way of balancing itself nutritionally .. either when we have too much of something E.g when we have a salty meal we crave water for hydration as salt dehydrates the body , same goes for certain nutrients. we also crave when we have deficiencies ..like when you’re desperate for a fry up .. your body is craving either fats (not the naughty ones) or protein eggs and meats .. so look out for cravings .. because they can mean the following .. with a little help from Intergrative Nutrition Book you can get Online here
Chips, crisps , fry ups , meats .. or dem colourless things
other than the fact im pretty sure McDonalds is 50% food stuff and 50% crack cocaine … its usually a mineral deficiency – our bodies crave the minerals in sea salt and although normal salt gives the taste satisfaction .. its been stripped of its minerals , so you will never satisfy that reason behind the craving unless you replace those minerals
COUNTERACT IT :
leafy green vegetables , seaweed salads , Himalayan sea salt (tiny bit guys ) or mineral supplements if its something that reoccurs
Icecream , yogurt, milky , even oils or creamy dressings
When craving something creamy, consider if you’ve had a lot of bread, crack- ers or other baked flour products recently. When eaten in excess, these foods create feelings of dryness and stagnation, and can also make us feel stuck, hard and irritable. Donuts, sweets , pastries .. honestly do i have to list sweet things?? we’re not retarded .. basically everything processed, resembling funfair food or pretty coloured … dammit
its an ENERGY THING , sugars are the easiest processed nutrient into energy .. therefore our bodies will look for it .. hence after work sweet TOOF!
Its An Emotional Thing.. because sugar produces more insulin which helps tryptophan go to the brain , thus increasing serotonin (the happy chemical)
Emotionally you have to deal with that.. i cant help … but spikes in your blood sugar levels by eating refined sugar will actually deplete your serotonin further .. so its a vicious cycle …. basically pinpoint the emotional reason and deal with it without food . hard but what am i supposed to say .. get a shrink basically
The problem is that the more refined the sugar e.g white sugar , high fructose corn syrup (and agave sorry foodies ) makes the bodies blood glucose spike.. so we get a surge of energy and then a quick fall .. we then continue to do this throughout the day .. so its long chained sugar intake thats required to stop this sugar monster , which is found in fruits and veg because fructose (fruit sugar) is accompanied by water, vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytonutrients, so it assimilates into the body slowly and with ease
so allow for unrefined sugars or naturally occurring sugars , like fruits and sweet vegetables like pumpkin , carrots, parsnips etc .. natural sweeteners like stevia , yacon and maple syrup , coconut sugar .
Dates are amazing because they taste fudgy and delicious and will satisfy that taste but still have the fiber needed to make them slow releasing
ALSO QUALITY MATTERS .. instead of shitty chocolate .. by ridiculously expensive RAW ORGANIC DARK CHOCOLATE .. because you will feel so guilty you spent so much on it .. you wont inhale it .. and it has health benefits

similarly with bitter foods spicy foods aid digestion by cutting through that stagnation. spices like Cayenne and chillies also speed up metabolic rate , which if you have high cholesterol or a high saturated fat diet .. your metabolic rate tends to be sluggish (ey fatty!) as well as aiding in circulation , spices are actually amazing for people with bad circulation … but its the forms it comes in which aren’t .. indian spices are great , but become obsolete when you’re eating them in a curry that has more saturated fat that a tub of Haagen Dazs (thats for real .. like actually )

3. Skip breakfast

4-5 large handfuls of leafy greens – Kim recommends romaine lettuce, kale and spinach
Parsley or Coriander (if taste doesn’t bother you – very detoxifying)
1 liter of water (filtered is best!)
1 Apple (cored)
Juice ½ Lemon
1 cup Ice
Place ingredients in a big blender (the more powerful, the better and more appetizing your smoothies) – water and greens first, blitz, then add fruit and ice.
Blend until smooth.
Tip – use seasonal fruits – if apples aren’t available, substitute with peaches or whatever is lying around! Fresh is best.

You know that ol’ saying Never trust a (skinny) i say fat chef … I always think that when people give me advice on nutrition or beauty tips .. and they look hmm how to put this politely a little less of what I would like to look like (its hard to sound succinct when you just want to say sh*t hey!)
However when i meet someone beautiful and radiant i literally want to climb inside them and find out everything they do , eat and rub on themselves.
This goes for Alex Glenday -Model, Raw Foodist , photographer , traveller .. somewhat entrepreneur .. this list could go on for a while . She’s walked for the likes of Paul Smith and Julien Macdonald and you’ve probably dribbled over her editorials in magazines …
But you cant disregard the facts , she’s beautiful and talented and full of energy .. because how the F8ck is she doing it all ? I found out what she does, her secrets (YHUSSS!!) and inspirations
What do you do? & what lead you to doing it?
I am busy with a couple of projects at the moment. I like to categorize those under two different fabulous f’s- the one is food the other fashion. In fashion, I have reached my tenth year of modeling, a decade long journey that has taken me round the world, Asia, Europe, Africa and America and left with me with a little suitcase of essentials which I will get to later… more recently I have been dabbling deeper into photography. After living in New York last year I returned to the summer in Cape Town South Africa, where I grew up, to start some new chapters in my life. I have been working with the brilliant photographer, Ulrich Knoblach on a book that he is making, as his illustrator, painting naked ladies frolicking around South African Landscapes in gentle watercolors.
Food has been the most capacitating thing as a model, who must be in good shape. An unending development which has left me with some simple solutions to energy and indulgent satisfaction. I have wanted to share my discoveries with all my loved ones and now anyone who will care to taste creations I have made. I started a raw food and yoga detox retreat, the ‘RAWreTREAT’ (http://rawretreat.withtank.com/) on a fruit farm in South Africa with a childhood friend. This is on hold as the winter months close in, and a new business venture in the form of ridiculously delicious fine dining pop up dinners has resulted: ‘Forage To Feast’, focusing on organic, wild and local foods that are perfectly combined, into delectable dishes. What’s your healthy little secret?
You should combine your food perfectly! Of course it helps to eat all the right things, but if you get them in the wrong combinations, you create a digestive backlog which leads to a build up of waste and how can you be purely beautiful if you aren’t clean? Also don’t be scared of the right fats, they are great for skin and hair and mobilize bad fats and make them move on out! That is the best secret in terms of losing weight. An Avocado a day is great! – Just make bloody sure you combine properly. Look at the helpful food combining chart which Beth posted before, to see what I mean.

Who’s your female inspiration and why?
American Nutritionist, Natalia Rose is definitely my health inspiration. Her book the RAW FOOD DETOX DIET was introduced to me in 2010 by a fellow model in Paris. She has really changed the way I live my life and has in turn changed the thoughts of so many people that I know. She is logical and clear. A guru.
