What do you do?
I’ve got a case of the octopus hands and a runaway creative brain so always liked to do more than one thing.
I work with clients Coaching and Tarot Reading. I had quite the tough adventure in my early 20’s and I work from everything that it taught me and then side by side with that I tune in to all my clients and know how to help them. I speak to groups and run workshops to share my favorite topics, write for a few different publications and also paint. I’m an artist at heart. I like to make things.
Right now I’m also currently working on a jewelry collection and creating some things for my shop, they are what I’m most excited about right now!
Just give us a quick sentence of explanation for the services you offer?
I see myself as being able to shove people back into their skin (but that doesn’t sound so eloquent on a business card). I want everyone to know it’s ok not to feel ok, learn how to find their own balance through self-knowledge and awareness and reclaim their personal power.
At a base level I have (from having always felt weird and not understood) a huge passion to help people feel less alone.
You do coaching; What’s the most common issues people are coming to you about?
Everyone has the exact same set of fears just packaged up in entirely unique ways.
I see a lot of people with anxiety and types of unprocessed traumas. I also work as a bit of a big sister to those new to their own spiritual connection. I help people get to know their inner dialogue and shift fearful thoughts and negative mindsets. My clients are usually at a point of change and are feeling a bit lost. I guide them in locating why and help them rebuild their own reconnect the mind-body-spirit. My clients are also btw the best people ever met. It’s eye opening and heart warming to hang out with them.
If you could tell your 23 year old self something… what would it be?
“You aren’t crazy – everything is exactly how it is supposed to be.”
Now we’re a health blog, you’re very in touch with your core self and body, how does that inform your health and eating habits ?
I have learned to listen to body from having had and recovered from chronic illness and PTSD in the past. I know when I’m in and out of balance, instantly. I think it’s so easy for people to be overwhelmed by what to eat or how to live and if you take it down to the basics it’s so much easier and you will feel better. Learn about yourself and go from there. Like Kale may be cool but if you are intolerant to it then it’s not going to be your superhero.
I have an autoimmune thyroid disorder called Hashimotos and so everything is aligned to care for it. If I don’t look after myself or I get stressed then I get quite ill, quickly.
At the heart of everything I just don’t want to feel shit! so I’m super passionate about being kind and interested in myself. Every day I just endeavor to at least try.
What are the 5 healthy life tips you do daily?
– I have a morning practice that involves committing to sitting down on a cushion and valuing my time, so I start everyday with writing, drawing, tarot or just remembering to breathe. This is my balancing thread that holds me together.
– I connect in some way with someone that I love. I’m an introvert and I love spending time on my own and so I have to remember to send antennae out.
– I try and move in some way – Pilates and walking suits me but even often it’s just stretching out into a great starfish shape in my bed.
– Feel all my feelings and know they are ok.
– Honour my creativity. If I don’t paint or make something I feel sad and mad.
Tell us for real.. is there anything into newspaper horoscopes ?
Having done some ghost writing of horoscopes in the past I was certainly up to my eyeballs in transits, planets and all the detail! But, I was working with the coolest people…. So I can’t tell you for sure but certainly in the papers it’s watered down and you see a tiny snippet, and that will only inspire people to think its nonsense.
If you want to really want to get it, study your own chart, an exact map of the sky when you were born. I’ve never seen anyone do that and not be at least a lot in awe. It’s a beautiful, especially for self-development. Destiny is your partner in crime.
What is the process behind creating your in-depth and insightful Tarotscope readings ?
My process is that I sit with my cards and energetically tune into the readers for who I am writing for and then pick a card for each sign. Then I sit and channel them aka I just start typing until I’ve finished. Practical magic. (You can read my monthlies on thenuminous.net and get a free 2014 scope from my site!)
Now. We’re all thinking it and sure you’ve been asked a million times, any spooky stories ?
I can talk to dead people?
Probably everything I experience is spooky, but to me it’s just how it is, and it’s awesome. Having said that I LOVE spooky stories, the old-fashioned horror movie kind and I like history.
I’m hoping my future husband is going to tell me ghost stories and at the same time be cool with the idea that they are probably also listening to him read the story. (Hello?)
I digress though, here is one for you.
When I was 17 I woke up one night and there was a woman standing by my bed. She was clear as day and watching me, but not in a scary way, she had a kind of sweet aunt vibe too her. So I was like cool a ghost, or what I’d call an apparition now, as it’s different to how I see spirits now.
The great thing is that I grew up in a house over 400 years old. So it transpired that over the years people would pop by because their great great uncle so and so lived there and we would let them look around. Every person who has ever come or knew our house would ask, “Have you seen the ghost?” and my Mum would say yes my daughter has, and we all has the same exact description of her. OOOooooooOOOOooo. Apparently three sisters used to share the house and they were known for watching over whoever lived there. I always thought it was cool, the house had the best vibes.
My mum also would also, very often hear a chorus singing in the attic.
Something else. When I dream that someone I know is crying then they always are in life, I check on them – I’ve never had this be wrong. It’s lovely and sad all at the same time

Three Traditional Foods To Welcome Back Baby..
Nan was right about the always wearing fresh underwear thing .. you know there has been at least one moment in your life where youre like .. thank f*ck for fresh undies ! (impromptu wax ladies?!?)
But this year we’re seeing a harp back to the old .. old is new .. retro is recent .. and we’re realizing nanny knew more than her weight in healthy living (lets pretend the smoking as a medicinal cure never happened lalalalalal)
Traditional foods are back .. notably these three babies
BONE BROTH :
RUNNNNN VEGANS RUNNN!!
No but seriously the old adage , chicken soup for every ailment has actually proven itself to be not just a fun fact … but straight up FACT . Its slow simmered animal bones (how do you make that sound normal?) along with all the gelatinous and collegen filled marrow/connective tissue and joints (again sounds gross. Reason to broth :
– used on the GAPS diet to heal leaky cut /intestinal issues and consistant indigestion.
-Cures upper respitory infections as proven here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11035691
-Makes your hair and skin beautiful due to the high content of gelatin and collegen (yep that sh*t people inject in their faces you can in fact ingest and build-your-own-botox)
-More minerals than a multivitamin , and more readily absorbed . in chinese medicine they have a saying that “like cures Like” so drink both broth .. build healthy bones !
-Filled with amino acids glycine and proline – both potent inflammation fighters .. hence why it helps with stomach problems and particularly for people who are celiac and exposed to gluten .. soothing mmmm
Still cant bring yourself to do it .. read sarah wilsn article n why you should http://www.sarahwilson.com.au/2012/01/how-to-make-bone-broth-and-why-you-should/
Yep said it butter . BUTTER IS BETTER .
OUR GRANDPARENTS KNEW IT !! they remained sceptactle of margarine from the beginning … they new that you cant make something that looks like butter out of cotton and soy.. without a WIZARD…or some kind of horrific chemical process .a lot of research has been done into the saturated fat issue .. and finally people have realized vegetable franken-oils are very likely the worst thing to happen to the human body since white bread (yeh don’t butter that sh*it please)
By no means is this a free pass to butter EVERYTHING . but if you must . avoid margarine at all costS and paste on some ORGANIC fresh buttery goodness.
may I remind you that FAT DOESNT MAKE YOU FAT – CLICK MEEEE
I have a feeling I don’t even need to detail this one anymore , last year fermenty goodness was all the rage . Whether Kombucha, sauerkraut, Kvaas, miso, tempeh or kefir was your crack . Anyone into the healthy living thing (basically everyone) was consuming fermented foods like a fat kid at a pick n’ mix.
Full of probiotics and digestive enzymes .. these babies are going to save you on the supplement isle .. and the generations that came before us consumed them ALL the time! Which explains why old people homes smell like farts (sauerkraut you delicious beast you)
HEY I EVEN WROTE AN ARTICLE ON HOW FERMENTED FOODS HELP YOUR BRAIN !
still not convinced about its goodness? read on babes
Above recipe minus spidey : http://vgourmet.ca/tag/vegan-soup/
Ah tis the season.. to be cold and sick… OR NOT
yes as the cold snap comes (not you australians ! damn you and your upside down summer!)
and no longer will the fresh juices or smoothies suffice .. instead we replace them with some things that are a little more heavy and a little more warming ..and cue the first pop of the trouser button .. ohhh poop
but it doesn’t need to be a fondue party people .. soups are a great nutrient dense meal .. and they can pack a soup-a punch (yep thats the only pun i have for this post so Im going to sprinkle it EVERYWHERE!!! ) by adding super foods so that warming delicious cup o love .. but remember soup is warm so it has to be superfoods that can handle the heat and have all those vitamins to ward off flu nasties as well as being savoury .. acai berry soup is a NAAAT .. the following are your new best friends ..
sprinkle no more than a teaspoon into your soupy bowl.. anymore and you’ll start to get the “fishy” smell and after taste .. and no one wants that
Spirulina supplement is actually one of the richest and most complete food source present in the world. It has over a 100 types of nutrients, more than any other type of grain, plant, or herb. The product is widely used as a food supplement to boost ones energy, maintain health, and reduce weight among other uses.
The supplement actually contains about 60% of protein, 12-13% of vital minerals such as Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc, and Phosphorous as well as a complete group of vitamin B. It’s also rich in several anti-oxidants, which protect body cells. In fact it is the only source of the antioxidant phycocyanin.
HOW: similar to spirulina .. easy peasy
It is a nutrient-dense superfood that contains 60% protein, 18 amino acids (including all the essential amino acids), and various vitamins and minerals. One of its unique properties is a phytonutrient called CGF.
Chlorella provides all of the dietary-essential amino acids in excellent ratios. It is also a reliable source of essential fatty acids that are required for many important biochemical functions, including hormone balance. Chlorella also contains high levels of chlorophyll, beta-carotene and RNA/DNA. More than 20 vitamins and minerals are found in chlorella, including iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, pro-vitamin A, vitamins C, B1, B2, B2, B5, B6, B12, E and K, biotin, inositol, folic acid, plus vitamins C, E and K.
HOW: cook the chia in with the veggies and you’ll have an instant thickening agent ! no need for cornflour .. or simply sprinkle them over at the end to add some crunchy texture
The most touted benefit of chia seeds is their high omega-3 content. However this is in the form of short-chain ALA omega-3. This needs to be converted to long-chain EPA/DHA omega-3. Unfortunately, our bodies aren’t very efficient in converting ALA to EPA/DHA so much of the benefits are lost. If this is the main reason you’re looking at chia seeds, you may well be better off with some wild fish, grass fed meat and fish oils for your omega 3s.
On the plus side, chia seeds are packed with soluble fibre and are high in antioxidants, calcium, iron, manganese and phosphorous. A unique property of chia seeds is the ability to hold up to 12 times its weight in water. Soaked for 30 mins, the seeds will form a gel like substance. Researches believe this gel reaction also occurs in the stomach, forming a barrier which means carbohydrates are broken down slowly. This makes the seeds popular among endurance athletes and also diabetics, who want a slow release energy source.
have it in your miso , add it in with the veg or simply get some toasted nori strips and garnish .. mmmm toastie
- Blood Purifying:The chemical composition of seaweeds is so close to human blood plasma, that they are excellent at regulating and purifying our blood.
- High in Calcium: They can contain up to 10 times more calcium than milk and 8 times as much as beef.
- Alkalizing:They help to alkalize our blood, neutralizing the over-acidic effects of our modern diet.
- Have Powerful Chelating Properties: They offer protection from a wide array of environmental toxins, including heavy metals, pollutants and radiation by-products, by converting them to harmless salts that the body can eliminate easily.
- Contain Anti-oxidants: Seaweeds contain lignans (naturally occurring chemical compounds) which have anti cancer properties.
- Detoxifying: They are rich in chlorophyll (the pigment that makes some seaweeds green) which is a powerful, natural detoxifier that helps to draw out waste products.
- Boost Weight loss: Seaweeds play a role in boosting weight loss and deterring cellulite build-up. Their naturally high concentration of iodine, helps to stimulate the thyroid gland, which is responsible for maintaining a healthy metabolism. At the same time, its’ minerals act like electrolytes to break the chemical bonds that seal the fat cells, allowing trapped wastes to escape.
Matcha Green Tea Powder
matcha tea turns bitter above 180 degrees , so i wouldn’t recommend long cooking , but its great for warm soup or even RAW soups
In addition to providing trace minerals and vitamins (A, B-complex, C, E, and K), matcha is rich in catechin polyphenols – compounds with high antioxidant activity. These compounds offer protection against many kinds of cancer, help prevent cardiovascular disease and slow the aging process. They also reduce harmful cholesterol in the blood, stabilize blood sugar levels, help reduce high blood pressure and enhance the resistance of the body to many toxins. The most important polyphenol in matcha is EGCG (epigallo-catechin gallate), which is the subject of many medical studies. Matcha has a significant amount of dietary fiber and practically no
remember hemp oil is a heat sensitive oil , so scorching hot soup is not a friend , unless you want rancid oil (ewwy) .. try having some on the table and drizzling over your pumpkin soup with a few toasted pumpkin seeds
Hemp has 3 unique nutritional factors. It has an ideal balance of Omega 3 and 6 for sustainable human health, it has a full amino acid spectrum meaning it provides complete protein, and it has a massive trace mineral content – truly one of nature’s superfoods.
Consumption of hemp oil and hemp seed is ideal for people with low essential fatty acid intake, and also perfect for athletes. It is of course particularly valuable to the veggie/vegan population, and even more so for veggie/vegan athletes, who are always looking for complete protein sources.
Other benefits of hemp seed oil include its effect on the skin and the hair, nourishing both on a cellular level. Hemp oil is easily absorbed by the skin and those EFA’s go straight to work!
ALAS I WAS WRONG

1-2 Tbsp. coconut oil (optional but helpful for the flu-ey people because its of antibacterial properties)
raw honey/stevia/maple syrup to taste
Boil water and turmeric in small saucepan over medium-high heat for 8 minutes (the turmeric must be fully cooked if not powdered ). Meanwhile, bring the milk and coconut oil to boiling point in a separate pan and remove from heat. Combine the two mixtures and add sweetness of your choice .

I Recently started reading into and attempting the Ayurvedic Approach to health , which if you click the link I’ve already given you a run down of the “Art Of Living”.. and a link to find your Dosha Type .. Which is actually a really fun little quiz so here it is again:
Below is the book I’ve been Reading which has the quiz in it .. and i’ve .. to the bewilderment of all my friends been subjecting them and grouping them into their Dosha Types .. and have actually become super quick at picking peoples before they do the test… so fortune teller I know.. the amazing thing has been how spot on they are .. right down to their food preferences and even what exercise of work environment they thrive in.
These are the 3 Dosha’s .. which Ayurvedic medicine believes we are all comprised of however individually havegreater constitution of 1 primary type.. sometimes 2 (lucky!) .. and an imbalance in our bodies of the 3 doshas is the basis for all mental and physical problems , including disease and weight problems as well as depression
Im a typical Vata .. and recently have decided to follow the rules of my dosha type .. i must say it makes sense .. however I’m a vegan , sooooo its kinda hard when your Dosha type thrives of dairy and warm food .. so i’ve had to find alternatives , but whatever . it explains my former obsession for eating tubs of yogurt in the bath… now that i think about it .. that was depressingly Bridget Jone’s of me .. especially as it usually happened saturday nights , with Will & Grace playing on my laptop.. sometimes I do a mental mantra reminding myself i’m only 22 years old ..
But one amazing supplement the research i’ve been doing has turned me onto is ASHWAGANDHA .. yes is ass rapingly difficult to pronounce
“Ashwagandha, an exotic Indian herb, has remarkable stress-relieving properties comparable to those of powerful drugs used to treat depression and anxiety. In addition to its excellent protective effects on the nervous system, ashwagandha may be a promising alternative treatment for a variety of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Ashwagandha has powerful antioxidant properties that seek and destroy the free radicals that have been implicated in aging and numerous disease states. Even more remarkable, emerging evidence suggests that ashwagandha has anti-cancer benefits as well.” Source
although its meant for VATA types (feeling a bit like this post sounds like im speaking a foreign language or have become a member of captain planet “earth,wind,fire.. what sign are you!” ughh)
but Ashwaganda its shown to have amazing properties in the body .. no matter who you are . its worth a try .. especially if you have a high stress situation going on and has also shown to
- normalizes levels of hydrocortisone,
- causes the size of the adrenal glands to return to normal,
- increases thyroid hormone levels,
- decreases inflammatory cytokines,
- decreases oxidizing agents that can trigger inflammation,
- decreases brain chemicals associated with anxiety,
- markedly improves stamina and energy, and
- turns on and improves white blood cell function to fight infections.
and finally the last thing i will leave you with is this Documentary on Youtube About
Ayurvedic : The Art Of Being
*note there is a scene when they paralyse a goat by pushing some thing on its spine.. its kinda weird.. then the medicine man eats a ball of mercury .. and something i think was arsenic .. its all pretty strange .. also the strap and baby up and massage it .. ive made it sound like a SAW Film .. but its interesting so have a looky

Skin looking greyish? Eyes lost their twinkle?
And how is that tummy of yours… Bloating? Burping…?
Rest assured you are not alone!
Digestive health is one of the most common yet under studied areas in modern medicine, yet it is one of the key systems in creating energy and feeling beautiful!
Its lucky we have wonderful tummy experts like Kimbery Snyder, author of ‘The Beauty Detox Solution’ for tips on how to lose the food baby and renew our sparkle.
Working with the likes of Fergie, Hilary Duff and Drew Barrymore, she knows a thing or two about how to give ourselves an energy kick, shed some fat and glow from the inside out – all without crazy calorie counting or cutting carbs.
“The less energy we tie up in digestion, the more energy we can “unlock” to spread through our bodies and confer beauty benefits” she says.
So what are some of her tummy tips to get that gorgeous glow?
1. You are not a tiger – don’t eat like one!
So many people are eating animal proteins every day, sometimes for 3 meals a day! Our stomachs just aren’t designed to tolerate that much. Take it easy on the steak and kidney pie and opt for veggie options when available. For meat lovers, this can be hard at first, so a good habit to start is meatless Mondays 😊 every week!
2. Alkaline first!
Before any meal, try to have some high-fiber alkaline foods like raw carrot sticks or a garden salad. This will ensure you’re getting your fiber needs, but more importantly, will help to balance your ph balance before you load up on saucy, starchy or meaty meals which are very acidic for our bodies.
3. Skip breakfast
Yes, that’s right!
Well, maybe that’s a bit extreme… But
eating breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper is a health myth… and its high time everyone stopped forcing breakfast into their mouths to “kick start their metabolism”
Our bodies didn’t evolve like that. Breakfast should be eaten when we first feel hungry in the day, not because cereal companies are telling you to chow down corn flakes at 7am.
You will have more energy if you actually delay your morning meal until you are feeling hungry – when the best thing to eat is fruit, a green smoothie or a fresh vegetable juice!
One look at Kim and its easy to see how this way of eating has its beauty benefits…
Her signature glowing green smoothie recipe is a big hit in LA, see the recipe below and watch your inner beauty shine through 😊
4-5 large handfuls of leafy greens – Kim recommends romaine lettuce, kale and spinach
Parsley or Coriander (if taste doesn’t bother you – very detoxifying)
1 liter of water (filtered is best!)
1 Apple (cored)
Juice ½ Lemon
1 cup Ice
Place ingredients in a big blender (the more powerful, the better and more appetizing your smoothies) – water and greens first, blitz, then add fruit and ice.
Blend until smooth.
Tip – use seasonal fruits – if apples aren’t available, substitute with peaches or whatever is lying around! Fresh is best.

Doutzen Kroes has the most banging body ever… and this is what she does .. cut to us all running screaming to wholefoods for macu oil and green powder argghh runnnn
whats your health tip?
I always take Vitamin C and then I have a routine of these three shakes every morning:
– When I wake up, I squeeze a lemon, grapefruit and an orange to make a juice for my husband, my son and I.
– Then I mix a green powder [Original Superfood Greens from Whole Foods], wheatgrass [The Power of Grass, Whole Foods], chia seeds and water shake. It’s disgusting but you just have to drink it all at once.
– For my third shake I blend banana, chia seed, cacao beans, Camu and Maca oils.
I am always so stuffed after drinking them all one after the other. Then I go to work and have a normal breakfast.
SWEET BABY JESUS
Three Unexpected sugar alternatives , that are unprocessed and deliciously good for you .. i love stevia , but i know the processed liquids and powders are definitely not great for the body , and the dried leaves are impossible to find AM.I.RITE??
honey is boring . agave gives me the fear .. and aspartame .. dont even .. so i tried these random ones you may not know about . all better than sugar .. all delicious
the bestest: Yacon Syrup
Yacon syrup comes from the yacón plant and was used heavily by the INCAS it has plentiful nutritional properties and few calories alongside low sugar levels. yacón roots have been eaten by people with diabetes and digestive, renal problems .
its low in calories because the yacon contains up to 50% FOS (fructooligosacharides) consuming it doesnt increase blood glucose (hence its diabetic friendliness) like every other sugar , fructose or glucose …and is instead a form of dietary fibre and sugar polymer both not absorbed by our bodies but instead regulates good intestinal flora and boosts the immune system by feeding the probiotic bacteria( GOOD STUFF- NOT JUST IN YOGURT) .
It is usually made similarily to maple syrup using an evaporator and tastes similar to molasses , or caramelised sugar
GROSS WIKI FACT: In a study by Genta et al. it was shown that a daily intake of yacon syrup produced a significant decrease in body weight, waist circumference and body mass index when given to obese pre-menopausal women
mmm buttery : Lucuma Powder
Comes in a powder form and is derived from the lacuma fruit .
With benefits of being low in acidity ,low in sugar and contains an excellent source of fiber, B3, and minerals.beta-carotene, niacin, and iron
the taste is slightly butterscothy .. toffee-ness good for mixing into tea or coffee or smoothies
SHWEETNESS : Dates Syrup
mmm yes the finger licking caramel goodness … yes the fruit! it qualifies as a whole food.with only one ingredient in the syrup .. soaked /steeped/evaporated dates.. depending on if you make or buy it . similar texture and taste to molasses or dark agave.
is the least tooth achy sweet of all the syrups like maple and agave etc
contains potassium (more than boo-na-na’s!) , magnesium, calcium, iron, riboflavin, niacin, folate, phosphorus, pantothenic acid, and vitamin B-6.

CHERRY BOMBE MAGAZINE its the brain child of Kerry Diamond and Claudia Wu (they met at harpers bazaar , so they know good sh*t)
They developed the idea for a magazine with an unusual twist fashion meets food glossy :
“Cherry Bombe features a variety of cultures, cuisines and voices—chefs and servers, food stylists and scientists, culinary icons and up-and-coming entrepreneurs—as documented by some of the most interesting food and fashion writers and photographers around.”
so no longer is a food magazine for old ladies .. or just men to perv on nigella lawson
its so beautiful , like unbelievably so – but it needs to meet its KICKSTARTER budget of $30,000 in 16days .. pledge up people even just $20.00
because you know when its made you’re going to buy it anyway so you might as well be a part of its making
an Karlie Kloss is on the cover eating some kind of cookie dough, sticky goodness

Inflammation of the body …
When the body acknowledges a substance that is foreign – take for example a splinter in your finger .. it causes the effected area to become inflamed – which is basically the immune system sending out infection fighters . However the same can happen in regard to foods that don’t assimilate into the body or are seen as alien (mainly processed foods and dairy) which put the body into a state of constant inflammation this inflammation has strongly been linked to cancer, autoimmune diseases like Lupus, and Crohn’s disease as well as Psoriasis, Diabetes, Allergies, Arthritis, Atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Cancer and Heart Disease and SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT GAIN /Inability to lose weight.
JEESSUUSS you say .. i know right .. but if you think of it simply as an allergic reaction it actually makes a lot of sense .
I know when I ate yogurt .. and I mean I only ate yogurt .. like dinner yogurts and all .. woopsie I had a lot more health problems , chronic headaches and a skin rash that came out in the sun – considering I was a Lizard in a former life , this was pretty shitty .
