Something he created out of love and necessity having found interest in the “biohacking” world thats so revolutionary in America , his frustration at not being able to access the products that were enabling people like Tim Ferriss and Dave Asprey to optimise their brains, bodies and productivity .. so basically creating super humans . He decided to bridge the gap and bring BIOHACKING TO BRITAIN . I know right . we picked his ..correction .. Upgraded super brain and found out the following…
how did you get interested in health ?
The story of humble Vitamin D started my fascination with health. I was blown away that this simple Vitamin could influence over 1000 genes within the human genome. After a quick google search I realised I could get my blood levels of serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D tested quickly and cheaply and after raising them to the correct levels I set about seeing what else I could manipulate.
what is the one myth .. that you would love to eradicate forever about health ?
I think peoples health is being screwed up mostly by a lack of responsibility from individuals themselves. The myth that you can eat one particular way (be that SAD, paleo, low carb…) and everything is going to be OK is wrong. People need to take responsibility to see what they personally need to eat, how much they need to work out and what they need to do to prevent cognitive decline and then do those things over the long term.
what do you think the trends in health and wellness will be in the next 5 years?
I think the ability for the average person to manipulate their brain neurochemistry is going to be the most important health development of the next 5 years. Cognitive decline is going to become the biggest health issue facing humanity alongside obesity as diets get worse and people live longer.
I think in time it will be commonplace to take a neuroprotective nootropic drug like piracetam in the morning alongside your omega 3s and vitamin d supplements.
your brand has quite a strong foot in the Paleo world , its quite largely misunderstood as cross fitting steak eaters.. whats the real scoop?
The real scoop is that the word ‘paleo’ is used to sell cook books and diets. The movement started with an emphasis on eating real, wholefoods which is what I wholeheartedly support. As long as you’re eating a bunch of whole veg, a decent amount of fats from things like butter and avocado and a fist size of quality meat a day you’re doing well.
whats a day in the life of your plate look like ?
I intermittent fast and so I have a black coffee in the mornings using freshly ground Bioupgraded – High Performance Coffee beans and then have lunch around 1-2pm. Lunch is usually a salad of some kind – organic baby gem lettuce, cucumber, celery, avocado, tomatoes with some kind of meet like salmon or chicken. I make a little salad dressing using MCT oil and a squeeze of lemon too.
I enjoy cooking and so my evening meal could be anything. For example tonight I’m going to making slow cooked, sticky Chinese ribs and a tomato and basil soup. I’ll likely throw some kind of fruit cocktail together for a desert too. Random but delicious.
what supplements would you recommend for overall health ?
Vitamin D and Omega 3s (with Krill Oil being the best source) are essential for most people. After that it really depends on your mental and physical performance and training goals.

who would you LOVE to interview on your podcast ?
It’s an obvious one, but Tim Ferriss was a huge influence for me to track my own health biomarkers and then use this data to improve them. Importantly his original book the 4 hour work week was massive inspiration for me to take control of my life and become and entrepreneur.
I’d love to interview Tim and dive deep into what makes him tick on the mindset kind of level.
exercise is important , but is it cardio , HIIT , cross fit , yoga ?!? the debate rolls on , whats your 2 cents ?
Yoga is incredible and is something that I’m really into at the moment. Being tall I’ve never had decent flexibility and so it’s a new side of being ‘in shape’ that I’ve never really experimented with before.
I do a lot of rock climbing but when I’m not training specifically for that my weekly break down is this –
- HIIT once a week to increase mitochondria numbers and function (plus countless epigenetic knock on effects)
- ‘Lift heavy stuff’ twice a week which consists of 6-8 reps x3 sets of squats, deadlift, bench press, overhead press and a few other compound movements.
- Specific training for niggles. For example I smashed up my clavicle last year sledding and I’m still having issues with my infraspinatus being tight and so I do daily exercises to strengthen the muscles around this at the moment.
what is the one healthy lifestyle habit you think can improve everyones wellbeing?
3 out of 4 visits to US doctors are for stress related ailments, stress is also the cause of 60% of all human illness and disease. Stress related aliments costs the US economy $300 billion a year (obesity costs way less at $200 billion).
Most of the people reading this right now are likely stressed, however there is a solution. It’s simple, free, we’ve been doing it for thousands of years – meditation.
If everyone relaxed their brains for 20 minutes a day by meditating the world would instantly become a healthier place.
1 sentence about sugar (ha!)
Sugar is fine, in moderation, with real food, in the PM (as it effects your blood glucose and so insulin levels differently throughout the day).
1 sentence about FAT!
Fat isn’t the devil, most of your brain is made out of it!
1 sentence about Protein
Moderate protein guys, otherwise it can cause serious inflammation.
1 sentence about carbs
Carbs = insulin spike which is a useful tool if used correctly.
